Be Yourself

Welcome to Travel to Mindfulness!
What a wonderful moment to welcome you here with me! This blog is dedicated to provide you with inspiration and useful information about travel and mindfulness, so you can go on your own adventures and find a home within yourself. However, if you want to know more about me, I am happy to share my story here with you…

My passion for travel caught me at the very early age of three. I was gazing out of the window of a gigantic jumbo jet that was taking me and my family across the Atlantic Ocean. The sparkling yet intimidating massive skyline of New York City was rising up right in front of me and at the same time it seemed very tiny and peaceful from above the clouds. We had traveled thousands of miles from Germany, my eyes slowly closing after this long journey, but it was at that very moment that I couldn’t feel more excited about discovering this endless, beautiful world on my own one day!

Growing up, many trips with my family followed – mainly traveling through Europe, spending summer vacations in Spain, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Romania, The Netherlands, and many other wonderful places. Traveling became my dream, my passion, my life!

A few decades fast forward, I have now visited more than 80 countries around the world – an experience I don’t ever want to miss! The first years were filled with backpacking through Asia, Australia, Central- and South America. All my life revolved around travel, and even my work took me to some incredible places. Challenged by my boss, I visited 12 countries in 12 days – probably my craziest trip so far. The most magical memories are from India and Sri Lanka but more about that in a second…

In Chile a sheep was sacrificed to my honor and I climbed up the towering Torres Del Paine. I stranded at the border of Guatemala/Honduras, swam with whale sharks in the Philippines, jumped out of a plane over the Great Barrier Reef, looked in the eyes of a tiger at the campsite in Botswana, had tea at the U.S. embassy in Bosnia-Herzegovina and visited Santa Claus’ house at North Pole, Alaska.

My journey took me to many incredible destinations around the world, but I also learned that no place is filled with any life without its people! Along the way I met some of the most amazing, inspiring and kindest people from all walks of life who taught me valuable lessons and truly had an impact on my view of life today.

In India I discovered true love and in Sri Lanka I found wisdom. Both places now hold a very special place in my heart because it took me on a different journey after all. In fact, I recall that one moment when I was sitting on a big rock, overlooking the Sri Lankan mountains and inhaling some of the freshest air while being guided through meditation by a very wise monk who was sitting next to me under a beautiful tree… Little did I know about mindfulness or meditation back then, but this moment has changed my life in a much more positive way than I could’ve ever imagined!
Mindfulness is now a key practice in my daily routine and when I travel. I have departed on a new adventure to find myself, trying to understand the nature of life, discovering my true authentic power, and continuously seeking to develop my mind. The more we work with our conscious mind, the more we can dive into our subconscious mind – and this is where the real healing begins!

Traveling this far surely hasn’t been easy and I would be lying if I told you that I know exactly where this journey will lead me, but I have come to realize that it’s more important to enjoy the ride, be present in the moment and understand the beauty of this journey rather than chasing after a destination without meaning.

Once we recognize the power of our mind, we can get rid of our limited beliefs, face our fears, see the world through a lens without filter, travel not just on our own map but also have an open mind to travel on someone else’s map, and ultimately we can gain more empathy for other cultures and for humanity!

I am truly excited to continue my adventures – both physically and spiritually – and I know life will never stop surprising me, as long as I let it happen! Throughout this journey I continue to seek inspiration from the wonderful teachers who are guiding my way and I look forward to connect with all of you to share my passion for travel and the joy of mindfulness.

But enough about me… because this is a guide for YOU!
I now invite you to go on your own journey – whether it’s traveling the world to discover the most exiting destinations on your own, or if it’s the journey to yourself. Find your own true power, open up your mind and follow your heart! Don’t let your limited beliefs hold you back from living the life you dream about. Start your own adventure to find a destination that you can call your happy place!
Be adventurous. Be mindful. Be happy.
